Richard Gould

From an early age, I was exposed to woodworking by my father and since then, I have been constantly creating and growing in my capacity as a woodcrafter. About five years ago, I bought a wood lathe to join my already existing workshop and I have been turning wood ever since. I love the art; in my workshop, I feel like I am at home.

My pieces are made from wood that most people consider to be scrap. I've rescued hundreds of logs and repurposed them into beautiful art. Each piece of wood is different and has its own challenges. In my work, I try to bring out the unique aspects of each type of wood, creating one  of a kind pieces that are special to me and - I hope - to all who see them. For me, trash turns to treasure and I never know what treasure I will find inside.

I am a proud member of the American Association of Wood Turners, The El Camino Wood Turner's Guild, The Redondo Beach Art Group, The Third Dimension of the PVACA, and the Palos Verdes Artist's Open Group. I have been giving wood turning demonstrations for many different organizations and showing my work in art shows around Southern California.
